I have a PhD in clinical psychology from a university approved and accredited by the American Psychological Association. I have experiences treating clients in a variety of settings including outpatient hospital, inpatient residential, substance abuse treatment programs, community mental health agencies and private practice.
I am a state approved supervisor for mental health professionals working towards LMHC and psychologist licensure. I have several years experience supervising mental health professionals across disciplines, primarily with clinicians who are of Asian Pacific Islander (API) backgrounds and are bi-lingual and bi-cultural. I am recognized by Washington State as an API Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist. I have developed, implemented and overseen multiple mental health programs including a program that won a national award for contributions and advancement to minority mental health.
I know first hand the immigrant experience having been born and partially raised in China as well as growing up in this country. I am also honored and humbled to work with many people from diverse API backgrounds who have shared their struggles and triumphs with me. I am always amazed at the resilience of the human spirit.
My primary therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but I utilize other therapeutic approaches as deemed helpful to each individual. I see the therapeutic relationship as collaborative and that each person and their situation is unique.
